Hi guys!! HAPPY HUMP DAY.
I know were still stuck in the ‘mid week’ doom and gloom so why not brighten it up with a highlight review! Anyone who knows me, will know I am ALL about that glow. From my cheekbones to my nose, my eyebrows to my lips, I am ‘LIT’. In my opinion, you can never wear too much highlighter; even resembling a disco ball, it’s never too extra.
But.. if like me, you highlight every day and a lot, the glow doesn’t come cheap; or so I thought. In this review I’m going to tell you all about my favourite highlighters – both high street and high-end.
So when I first discovered highlight in 2015, I purchased MAC Cosmetics Mineral Skinfinish in shades ‘Lightscapade‘ and ‘Gold Deposit‘. This product comes in 6 shades – Cheeky Bronze, Global Glow, Gold Deposit, Lightscapade, Warm Rose and Soft & Gentle. This highlighter is a lightweight velvet powder with a high pigmented metallic finish. What I love about this product is it glides onto your face and leaves no excess ‘fall out’. If you’re looking for a shimmer or a heavy glow, this highlight is easily buildable. Not only will I use these beauties to glow, but I will use them to contour. Applying Lightscapade to my cheek bones, upper lip and the bridge of my nose but using Gold Deposit in the hollows of my cheeks and jaw line to chisel in that contoured look. These Mineral Skinfinishes retail at £24.50 each.
Now whilst I love the mineral highlighter, I came across Rimmel London’s ‘Good to Glow’ liquid highlight IT’S AMAZING. Retailing at just £5.00, I HAD to try this out. The liquid highlighter comes in three shades – Notting Hill Glow, Piccadilly Glow and SoHo Glow; I purchased Notting Hill Glow as it was the lightest and most suited shade to my fair skin. This gorgeous product acts as an illuminator and a highlighter which contains reflecting pigments giving you a radiant look. The lightweight liquid texture can be worn alone or blended with foundation for a subtle all over glow. To use this product, I apply three small dots of the liquid to my highlight areas and dab/blend into my skin using a beauty blender before applying my finishing powder to my face.
Upping the highlight game was Anastasia Beverly Hills and their ‘Glow Kits’; my personal favourite however is the Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit. This particular kit has six shades of beautiful glow pigments called Kitty Kat, Forever Young, Daydream, Forever Lit, Glo Getter and 143. The shades are absolutely stunning. At first glance, they look very glittery, but they are extremely creamy and aren’t too glittery at all. They are so pigmented, that it only takes a slight touch to get good pigmentation on your finger or brush.
TIPS & TRICKS
- Ideal for use with Brush A23
- Layer complementing shades together to brighten cheekbones and collarbones
- Create flawless luminosity by applying shades on eyelids, brow bones and inner corners of eyes
- For added radiance, apply with a damp makeup brush or sponge
This glow kit retails at £45.00 but it’s proving difficult to find a UK merchant selling this product lately as it is somewhat dated now. As soon as I find a genuine seller, I will upload it to my products page!
So there you have it, my favourite highlighters and all for various prices. As always I will post the highlights over at my products page along with the purchase links. If you’re not following me already, you can subscribe below or follow me over at..
