Elemis – Pro Collagen Marine Cream

Hi beautiful people, again I am so sorry for the silence lately! The products I am reviewing for you all need a week or two to see results so my posts at the minute are a little slow!!

I recently received a 15ml sample of the Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream which I was really, REALLY excited to try as I’ve heard nothing but great things about this cream. This product is a moisturising cream which promises revolutionary increases in hydration, skin firmness and free radical protection – at a hefty price.

Elemis claims..

“This revolutionary Anti-Ageing cream uses the Marine extract Padina Pavonica to transform the complexion in just over 2 weeks. Trials proved that the appearance in wrinkle depth was reduced by up to 78% and that hydration was increased by up to 45%. Skin firmness and elasticity are dramatically increased, whilst providing superior free radical protection.”

I’ve been using the product for the last two weeks, applying it to my cleansed skin daily. I’m happy to say that for me, the claims are seeming to be true!

The packaging

Although my product came in a squeeze tube, the actual product comes in a glass jar; this is something im not a fan of. Jar packaging is a good reason to avoid a skin care product because by opening it and (probably) sticking your fingers into the contents on a daily basis you risk introducing bacteria into the mix. If you couple this with the fact that antioxidant ingredients react with sunlight and the oxygen in the air, this makes them far less effective and you end up with a less impressive formula, and a possible germ contamination which could make your skin worse.

However; don’t let this completely put you off! The product itself smells AMAZING! It has such a sweet, almost candyfloss scent to it and it gives your skin a subtle glow. The appearance of the jar is clinical and simple which I love!

For me, the product is gorgeous and I can see why it’s a best seller. When I apply this moisturiser, my skin smells, looks, feels and glows beautifully. The moisturiser really did hydrate my skin which helped my makeup application! There is nothing worse than trying to apply your foundation to dry, flaky skin.

As for the skin firming, collagen aspect; my skin did feel and look firmer but not by much. I think that to see the full benefits of this, you would need to use the product for a lot longer than two weeks.

However before I get your hopes up, as I mentioned earlier, this product comes at a hefty price; at an eye watering £82 for 50ml. To me, this IS NOT worth it. There are plenty of products out there in the market which do the same job for less – take the Clinique Moisture Surge cream for instance. This gave me the same results, if not better.

If you’re thinking of trying or buying this product, please take all of the above into consideration before throwing your money away. I will leave the shopping link over on my ‘products‘ page.

I really hope you liked this review guys, thank you so much for taking the time to read it.
